Purposeful Play

 

Purposeful Play is a deliberate and thoughtful opportunity to extend the ideas of children and to support their curiosity.

Within Purposeful Play, all student engagement is based upon their interests or ideas and are clearly aligned to state standards.  Teachers provide the materials, and the students choose the direction of their creations.  

All props support a theme, or scenario, and once constructed, students assume specific roles within the scenario.  Every Kindergarten and Grade 1 classroom provides 45 minutes daily to engagement within Purposeful Play.
